Universal Ticket with Direct to Lift Access
Direct to lift access
The Mountain Pass Key™ is a universal lift ticket that can be used at partner resorts, regardless of the type of ticket verification equipment the resorts have. If the resort is listed on our website, the Key™ provides direct entry. With the Key™, the customer goes right to the lift – no waiting on the ticket line.

Advantages
Direct online reloading
The QR code on the back of the Key™ can be scanned by an iPhone or Droid smart phone camera with an app from our website. Scanning the QR code accesses the Mountain Pass website where our ski resort partners are listed. The customer selects the resort, ticket type, and date. Using a credit card registered online or entering a new one will authorize the Key™ for the selection. We transmit the ticket information and payment directly to our partner.
Compatible with ticket verification
Bar code scanning
Most ski resorts are still using bar code scanning to verify lift tickets. The linear barcode printed on the Key™ uniquely identifies the card.
RFID short range – high frequency (HF)
The Key™ card is fully compatible with HF gates already installed at ski resorts. If the resort is our partner, the Key™ will work with these gates.
RFID long range – ultra high freq. (UHF)
Currently, the only long range RFID gates in use at ski resorts are Mountain Pass Entry™. These gates are fully compatible with the Key™.
Dual chip and dual antenna design
The patent pending Key™ has both HF and UHF integrated circuits so all types of protocols that operate in these bands are supported including NFC and e-card payment. Each frequency also has separate antennas as shown in the Key™ image on the front with the HF antenna on the left and the UHF antenna on the right.
Why ski resorts should sign up?
Our customers purchase lift ticket in advance at a discount that are non refundable, providing our resort partners with a predictable revenue stream.
The discount on the lift ticket will depend on when the ticket is used. Our goal is to bring in customers when our resorts partners have availability and the extra skiers or boarders are mostly incremental. During busy times, like on weekends and holidays, our prices and those at the resorts can be the same.
Our resort partners provide the discounts for every day of the season that is easily changeable. We charge our customer that amount and transfer the payment, minus a transaction fee that also includes the credit card fee.
For a small charge, the KeyTM is sent to new customers that purchase from our website. It is theirs to keep and is fully reloadable for multiple seasons. We also provide an emailed receipt with a QR code and a barcode. The customer has the option to take the receipt to the resort and get tickets printed there.
Loyalty program linked to Key™
The back of the Key™ has a magnetic stripe allowing the Key™ to be used as a credit card at partner resorts.
Each family member listed on the primary customer’s web page can have a Key™ that acts like a prepaid credit card, allowing purchases only to the amount specified by the primary member. Meanwhile all the loyalty points go to the primary member, maintaining resort loyalty.
